Across the State: Quarked!

The Quarked! Project features cartoons (above) and interactive Web site to help students understand physics.

FORMULAS FOR FUN

Children need a solid foundation in math and science, which is why the Quarked!¨ Project at KU is introducing Kansas kids to physics.

A creative team headed by physics professor Alice Bean uses colorful cartoons, challenging games, and an interactive Web site -- www.quarked.org -- to help students understand the building blocks of the world around us.

And in visits to elementary and middle schools around Kansas, the project team contributes to the scientific foundation that students will need to succeed in school and in the modern economy.
